CPD March 2018 - Facilitating Groups

We know that coaches love learning new techniques and approaches, as well as refreshing their existing skills. Regular Continuing Professional Development is essential to developing and maintaining your coaching practice. We have put together a series of short, focused CPD sessions for coaches.

Facilitating Groups with Kim Morgan (Full day workshop)

Many coaches find that they are asked to provide group coaching, coaching workshops or other types of group facilitation, as well as one to one coaching.

This course is aimed at coaching a group of people, as opposed to a team of people.  A group does not necessarily have a common interest or pre-existing relationships.   Therefore this session differs from Barefoot’s 3-day Team Coaching Programme.

For those coaches among you who do not have previous experience of facilitating groups or running workshops, this is a one-day introduction to the challenges and the thrills of working with a group of people.

This session will cover:

  • The role of the facilitator
  • Contracting with a group
  • An understanding of group dynamics
  • Dancing in the moment vs sticking to the agenda
  • Playing to different learning styles
  • Finding out who you are as a group facilitator/presenter/coach
  • Challenge, conflict and what “hooks” you
  • Practicalities:  room set-up, equipment, timings etc.
  • Using one to one coaching techniques with a group
  • Creating a 6-week group coaching programme

In addition to the above, delegates will leave with:

  • An outline plan for a group coaching programme
  • Feedback on their facilitation style
  • Action plan/steps for further development
  • A list of further reading
  • ICF CCE Points (Pending)
