Frequently Asked Questions
What if I can’t make all the dates?
If you can’t make all of the dates then that is ok. We can work out with you how you can progress forward. Sometimes it might be that you complete the modules in a different order or that there are just one or two dates that you can’t make. Either way we will work with you to find a solution that works for you. We run courses throughout the year in London and the East Midlands and you can usually pick up on missed days at one or other location.
Is your course accredited by the EMCC, ICF, ILM?
In 2001 we became one of the first organisations to have a coaching course accredited at Postgraduate level by a university. A university accreditation is universally recognised, understood and valued as an indisputable mark of quality and attainment. In addition to the university accreditation, our course is also accredited by the National Council of Psychotherapists and completion of our course enables you to join the NCP and use the letters LNCP after your name. There are now many different professional coaching bodies and we prefer to give you the option of choosing which one you would like to join. Having studied at postgraduate level with Barefoot Coaching enables you to access membership of these bodies as an individual.
What can I do with my training and qualification?
Delegates on our courses come from a variety of different backgrounds and go on to use the qualification in many different ways: Some are sponsored by their organisations to do the qualification and go back into their organisation to become an Internal Coach Supervisor, to Supervise their own in-house coaches. Others are already self-employed consultants, coaches, psychologists, HR or Learning and Development professionals, looking to add coaching supervision (and a recognised qualification) to their portfolio of coaching services. Many trainees go on to run their own supervision groups or offer one to one supervision to coaches. There is also the potential to become a supervisor for our sister company The Coaching Circle ltd.
Can I complete a Masters with you?
Once you have completed the postgraduate certificate with Barefoot Coaching, you will have 60 CATS points at postgraduate level. Then you have a couple of options: 1) You can continue on to do your full MA with the University of Chester. Once you have completed your PGCert with Barefoot, the University of Chester will work with you individually to create your own learning pathway to a full Masters in Coaching. This means that you will not attend any more taught modules but continue your study independently, with the support of designated personal tutors. This enables you to choose precisely what you want to focus on in your MA studies. Many Barefoot alumni have gone on to achieve full MAs in Coaching in this way. 2) You can take the 60 points to any other university which offers a Masters in Coaching and put them towards their Masters programme.
Is there any funding available to me?
The best course of action is to contact your local Business Link because they often have regional funding available. They will be able to let you know whether you or the courses meet their current criteria. Sometimes local councils have small pockets of funding available. It is advisable to sign up to Barefoot Coaching Ltd’s newsletter as we always keep our subscribers notified of any grants or funds which are available.
What about on-going support, supervision and continual professional development?
All of our courses run in modules. Each module is two days long and roughly one month apart for up to 4 months. All modules are face-to-face learning with supported telephone and e-mail support between modules. You will also have a personal tutor who will work with you on completion of the modules to support you through the academic work. During your training with us you will be given access to our on-line coaching forum. This contains a wealth of material and offers on-line chat with our past delegates. They are always happy to help and advise along the way. On completion of the programme, you will be invited to join our membership association (www.coachingcircle.co.uk) where you will have access to an on-line coaching forum, Annual Conference, regular CPD events throughout the year and monthly supervision sessions.
Where do you run your courses from?
We run our courses throughout the year from our lovely training premises in the East Midlands.
Are your courses residential?
No they are not - each day runs from 9am – 5pm. We have negotiated very good preferential rates at local hotels and B and Bs and we always send these to you in your joining packs.
How long will it take for me to complete my training and qualification?
Most delegates complete the post-course work within 6 months. Many have completed it within 3 months of finishing the taught modules.
