Coaching Supervision is an integral and vital part of the coaching process for any organisation providing in-house coaching.
Many organisations have their own coaches whether sourced internally or externally. Whichever way, it is essential that these coaches receive supervision.
Providing Coaching Supervision:
Barefoot Coaching Ltd has provided in-house supervision to coaches for many years. It is vital that in-house coaches receive coaching supervision as well as having their own coach. It is an integral part of being a coach and forms best practice to have regular coaching supervision. Professional supervision offers time and space to reflect on the coach's work. Either one to one or in a group led by a trained supervisor, it is a chance to gain objectivity and perspective on their own coaching work. It can be particularly helpful in complex or difficult situations or with coaching work which is triggering ‘hot spots’. Supervision is also an opportunity to gain support in the form of ideas, information and suggestions. It can also provide emotional support and appropriate reassurance from your supervisor.
Training in Coaching Supervision:
If coaching is used regularly in an organisation, sourcing supervision can be very expensive and will need to be done frequently. For cost, time and quality effectiveness it is important that organisations gain supervision qualifications. Having a qualified coach supervisor within the organisation will make sure that the minimum requirement of supervised hours for practising coaches, is met as set out by the EMCC, ICF and Coaching Circle Ltd.
